Amun and the family
Amun created families. Therefore, he desires for all families to be happy. Why create the family to tear itself apart?
Husbands and Wives
Amun desires husbands and wives to be happy. When a man and a woman join in marriage it is something that should last forever. Therefore when choosing a mate, it is wise to take your time. Truly know what it is that you look for in the mate, and make sure that you at least display a few of those traits yourself. Don't expect to attract someone that is honest if you are a habitual liar. A marriage is a partnership that is meant to enhance your life, not destroy it or restrict you. Although Amun has no laws against premarital sex (this will be talked about more on another page), it is wise when looking for a marriage mate to save sex as long as possible, even until after marriage in efforts to make sure that your relationship has a real basis and is not simply about sex. Also, it is important to note Amun's view of women. In Amun's view, women are equal to men. They do not become their husband's property upon marriage. Although the man is the head of the household, it is still his responsiblity to treat his wife with respect, dignity, and love. Doing any less or even abusing your wife if certainly not within Ma'at and is a crime in the eyes of Amun. Loyalty and fidelity is demanded from both husband and wife.
Fathers and their children
The bond between a father and his children is one to be revered. As a father, it is your utmost responsibility to protect and raise your children to the very best of your ability. Children are a gift from Amun that should not be taken for granted. Providing for your children does not simply mean giving them food and clothing. Children need time and love also. They need your patience, and they need to know that they mean the world to you. Selfishness has no place in raising a child, and ruling with an iron fist will do nothing to strengthen the bond. Teach your sons to provide for themselves and one day a family. Teach them morals and values. Teach your daughters to care for themselves and provide an example as to what they should look for in their husbands.
Mothers and their children
The natural bond that Amun put between mothers and their children is unmistakable. There really is not much to be said in this, except do not let it weaken. A mother's work is never done and she is the childs main protection. A mother must even protect her children from their father if the father should become violent or dangerous in other ways. Instill love and softness in your sons and daughters. Teach them the strength, will power, ability to adapt and other virtues of a mother that a father does not come equipped to teach.
Both parents should be willing to lay down their lives for any of their children and the entire family should have a bond that can not be broken by outside influences.
* A quick note on homosexuality. As far as I know, Amun has never shown any dislike or hatred for homosexuals. The same dynamics and rules apply to a homosexual couple as a heterosexual couple. It would be advised that when raising children, there be an opposite sex figure in the child's life that they can look up to like a parent.
